Quest Secures Cabling Contract with CMAS
Technology Firm Becomes One of the First Solutions Providers to Hold Contract
SACRAMENTO, CA July 6, 2000 - The California Department of General Services' Procurement Division has awarded a California Multiple Awards Schedule (CMAS) cabling contract to Quest, a technology consulting and management company.
As an authorized CMAS contract holder, Quest can render wiring and cabling services and products at a pre-approved price for schools, state and government agencies in need of broadband delivery including high capacity data cable and fiber-optics systems. Quest spent many months proactively researching various documents from which the final CMAS-approved contract was derived. A benefit to Quest clients, CMAS eliminates the bidding and evaluation process as project management specifications and quality control issues are already incorporated into the award contract.
"CMAS has been extremely beneficial to schools and governments because it enables government agencies to focus on results instead of bidding processes," said Carol Umfleet, CMAS Project Manager.
Umfleet added, "CMAS is able to do this through unlimited competitive choices, one-stop shopping, reduced administrative overhead, elevated levels of service, timely implementation of projects, a collaborative versus combative procurement environment, and no bids, protests or sole sources to report."
Quest currently holds over 25 CMAS contracts - ranging from wiring to IT technical services - featuring more than 50 manufacturers.
"We believe very strongly in the CMAS program and how it benefits all parties involved," said Tim Burke, CEO of Quest. "Since we began utilizing the CMAS program four years ago, it has proven to be a vital tool in servicing our clients from government and education arenas. CMAS makes the purchasing process much more efficient - which, in turn, allows us to more quickly provide the products and services our clients need."
