Case Study: Fremont Bank
Fremont Bank Chooses Quest For Network Security
Fremont Bank is a privately held bank with more than $1 billion in assets. Founded in 1964, the bank serves Alameda and southern Contra Costa counties and will soon open its 20th branch office.
Quest began its association with Fremont Bank in August, 2001. The bank needed an Internet firewall installed to protect the bank's network. At the time, the bank had been working with another third-party vendor who performed the initial installation, but was unable to provide the necessary ongoing systems support.
"We considered several other vendors before making the decision to use Quest," said Jim Bingham, Director of Information Systems for Fremont Bank. "Their understanding and knowledge of bank security issues was an integral part of our decision. They also have an established track record of success and financial stability that is a requirement in the banking arena."
"Quest had been used as a source for the purchase of equipment and other maintenance services, so it was given the opportunity to assist us in supporting the firewall system and to provide additional network security services," Bingham explained. "Through the work on these projects, we found a comfort level working with Quest and other capabilities the company had, so we use them on additional projects."
Since then, Fremont Bank has worked with Quest on software licensing, network performance and security monitoring, network maintenance and general consulting. They have even helped the bank install and configure a second ISP, providing load balancing and redundancy.
"Everything we've done with Quest has been successful," said Steve Moran, data security manager for Fremont Bank. "Everyone we have worked with from Quest has been knowledgeable, flexible and willing to help us whenever necessary. It has been a pleasant experience."
Fremont Bank plans to continue its relationship with Quest on a variety of projects, including continual network security and performance monitoring.
"We look to Quest as an expert knowledge base, not only to help us with the very high-level technical projects, but also to train our staff and teach us the skills we need," Bingham said. "Everyone we've worked with at Quest has been very responsive and willing to meet our needs."
